The fact that you smoke, drink alcohol or you have tried drugs, doesn't mean that you shouldn't be open. It's better to share your own experience. There is no need to create an ideal image of yourself.

Discussing this topic doesn't make your child a drug-addict. Most probably he/she is already acquainted with drugs. The conversations with her/him will broaden his/her knowledge and will give him/her the opportunity to understand your point of view.

There is nothing wrong to share with your child that you feel uncomfortable. Undoubtedly he/she has already felt that. A similar confession will show that your anxiety is caused by natural worries, not by something your daughter or son has done or said.
